Howard A. Jacobs

Howard A. Jacobs was born in New Haven in 1924. He received a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1945 and graduated from its law school, with distinction in 1947. While in law school, he was a Senior Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Mr. Jacobs then returned to New Haven to practice law with his father, Israel J. Jacobs, who had practiced law here since 1918.

Mr. Jacobs was President of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association in 1961-62. For more than fifty years, he has been heavily involved in criminal defense, personal injury, and domestic relations litigation. Over these years, he has represented thousands of clients and has tried hundreds of civil, domestic, and criminal cases. In addition to trying cases in the Connecticut state courts, he has tried cases in the federal courts in Connecticut, New York and Hawaii. He has argued appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court and the federal courts of appeals in New York and California and has submitted cases to the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Jacobs is included in The Best Lawyers in America in connection with personal injury litigation and family law.

In addition to the Connecticut state and federal courts, Mr. Jacobs is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
